Maritime Radio Course

VHF RADIOS HAVE BEEN UPDATED WITH SATELLITE
TECHNOLOGY (GPS)
The certificate to operate VHF or the new VHF-DSC Radios has been
upgraded along with Operators’ Course.
This certificate issued by CPS is the
Restricted Radiotelephone Operator’s Certificate (maritime) (ROC)
The VHF Radio Course is now called the
MARITIME RADIO COURSE (VHF)
This course has a written [multiple choice] and oral
examination together with a totally new student text /manual and CD.
Module One concerns Regulations, Procedures, and Communication such as
distress calls, frequencies, the International Phonetic Alphabet, words
and phrases and priority calling.
Module Two examines Digital Selective Calling
(DSC). Pressing the red

practice operating a DSC/VHF radio.
We investigate all the features and innovations of
VHF-DSC Radios,
EPIRBs (Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacons), NAVTEX receivers,
SEARCH AND RESCUE TRANSPONDERS, and practical digital selective calling
(DSC) communication exercises.
